(Apologies for poor sound quality in the first 5 minutes)
Problem
-
"Lord, the one you love is sick."
-
Facing up to the reality of your situation
Prayer
-
"Lord," Martha said to Jesus, "if you had been here, my brother would not have died."
-
Honest, engaging, open, vulnerable.
Possibilities
-
"things can be different"
-
Jesus - Lazrus will rise.
-
Martha - one day he will...
-
Jesus - No! Not just one day - how about now?
Practicalities
-
"Where have you laid him?" he asked
-
"Come and see, Lord," they replied.
-
Beginning to deal with the issue...
-
Talking about it...?
-
Confession...?
-
Seeking help...?
Preparation
-
"Take away the stone," he said.
-
Taking responsibility
-
Vulnerability
-
BUT - It stinks... don't go there!
Purpose
-
Jesus said to them, "Take off the grave clothes and let him go."
-
Moving on.
-
Living free...
