Jesus teaches…
…in the synagogues.
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour.”
Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him, and he began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”
-
The direction of the kingdom of God…
- the political, social, cultural transformation agenda of the Kingdom of God…
Jesus preaches…
…the good news of the Kingdom of God
"The time has come," he said. "The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!"
Mark 1:14-15
The announcement of the presence of the Kingdom of God
It is a proclamation…an awareness campaign.
Jesus healed the sick…
- Our response…?
- An increase in our desire that the sick might be healed…
Note:
- people came to Jesus,
- requested healing for someone else, or
- brought someone to Jesus.
Three keys in terms of our response
(following 1 Peter 3:15):
